| Thallus to 4 cm wide, leaden grey to bluish grey. Lobes 0.2 –0.9 mm wide, discrete or adjacent, adnate, flat, linear or narrowly cuneate, much branched; apices truncate, without deflexed margins. Upper surface epruinose, isidiate. Isidia scattered, knob-like at first, becoming terete with age, concolorous with thallus or darker. Round accessory lobules often present. Lower surface usually black, rarely pale. Rhizines usually black, often forming a thin hypothallus at lobe margins. Apothecia rather rare, to 1.5 mm wide, black. Ascospores fusiform, 8–14 × 2–4 µm. | ||
| Occurs from Cooktown S to Proserpine, Qld. A palaeotropical species known from E Africa to the Tuamoto Archipelago. Grows on siliceous rocks in eucalypt woodland and dry sclerophyll forest. Also on bark of trees in mangrove communities and charred logs at margins of rainforest. | ||
